Annabel Mason and David Mason can’t wait to eat gelato with you guys in Roma in a few weeks. How good would this be to come back to after our Italian rendezvous?!

Enjoy the dream, enjoy the food, I am enjoying the country, the wine, the people. 🥂🍷🍷😘

Kim Wright it's tricky but I reckon a gelato in Florence after wandering through the Uffizi.

The Word of Rod.
A little belated patter about the harvest that was way back then from RM. (Just in case you were hanging out for it 😉 )

“Well finally! Back to what we all expect from a Hawke’s Bay autumn. Long sunny days and no rain to speak of…developing into cool nights and warm days to finish off ripening.

This year’s harvest was down on yield, with the last couple of years’ cool, cloudy weather meaning fewer bunches on the vines, and last years wet and cool spring meaning a small number of grapes per bunch. When you combine that with our beautiful weather from January to April, you get an early harvest, but beautifully ripe flavours and bright acidity. We get to pick when the grapes are ready, not when there’s a storm on the horizon!

I don’t think there’s a weak variety this year….our most important varieties, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah are all looking great, but the later ripening Cabernet Sauvignons are also especially good this year. Hayden, Chris and Pete can all take a bow for getting another tricky growing season into the winery in beautiful condition, leaving very little to do in the winery to make it taste great. That’s how it’s supposed to work!” RM

Heads up.
The Hawke's Bay Marathon is on tomorrow with the finish line Elephant Hill. And whilst all roads remain open around the neighbourhood we do find our driveway is busier during the morning of the marathon.
Please,
please,
please slow down.
You will be sharing our driveway with walkers, cyclists and our hard working staff.

Good luck to all the amazing runners and walkers - may you get the day you trained for!
