Once upon a time we started a wine brand, got a label made, stuck them on the bottles on our little Formica kitchen table and went to town. This is the original Quarter Acre label design, one I still love. Only thing was, retailers didn’t like it. No pretty picture. The back label on the front. A simple font. And only two colours, mostly black. So eventually we changed it to what it is today.

The other night we opened a bottle of this. A 2009 Merlot Malbec. It must have been one of our first vintages. We didn’t open it for any particular reason, I can’t even remember what we ate. Aubergine, maybe. But it was damn delicious. Maybe the fact it was on a random Thursday night made it taste even better. And for a second there I think RM was just a little bit chuffed.

Yep, our fave event of the year, the @hawkesbaywineauction will hit again in September. This year we’re offering a Quarter Barrique (around 72 bottles) of the finest Syrah we produced in 2022. Lot 14 is lovingly crafted and will not be found anywhere other than at the auction in September.
