** Win HB Marathon Entry + Pizza! **
In a month’s time, our quiet little neighbourhood will be jam packed full of hot, sweaty, smelly, satisfied people! After a couple of postponements the Hawkes Bay Marathon will finally take place on Saturday 15 May, finishing on our lovely neighbour’s driveway at Elephant Hill .
If you missed out on an entry, the event is now 💯 SOLD OUT in all distances, or if you’re only just now feeling in your prime!, we’ve got two entries to give away to the distance of your choice, run or walk - 42km, 21km, 10km, 3km. Not only that, but pop up to our place post-effort (Saturday 15 or Sunday 16) and we’ll shout you a pizza and a glass of wine for all your hard work!
Comment what distance you’d tackle, run or walk, why you were so slow in entering!, and tag another running friend. Drawn Monday 19 April, 5pm. 18+ to get wine, or we’ll give you fizzy. One entry given away on IG and one entry given away on FB.

F.A.W.C! Drive + Dine
If truth be told, we wanted to call our event Drink + Drive...but the good folk at F.A.W.C thought the better of it! So Drive + Dine it is. Regardless of its name, our winter F.A.W.C! offering is, we think, a little doozy. Tickets go on sale this Tuesday, so check out the rest of the food and wine fest gigs before then... www.fawc.co.nz/events/view-events
Here's the patter for ours:
Join us on a Saturday jaunt through the Te Awanga country-side to visit our neighbours, Outfoxed at the highest point of their farm with a stunning view overlooking our vineyards and out to the wide, blue Pacific Ocean.
From here winemakers Rod McDonald and Hayden Penny will give you the lay of our organic land. As you sup and nibble and chit chat, you'll also be able to aim for the ocean as you drive some golf balls off the specially built Top Golf platform at Outfoxed.
Once we've thoroughly outstayed our welcome, we'll return to the Cellar Door for a super relaxed long lunch of organic goodness - food by our resident kitchen queen Loma Robertson and wine by Rod + Hayden.
Ticket includes transport to and from Top Golf platform by Gannet golf shots, long lunch, wine, good times + organic chit chat.

I have to be honest. In the 20 some years I’ve known Rod, hardly a Sauv Blanc has passed my lips. I’m just not a fan. And by gum he’s tried to find one that will get past my nose and actually onto my palate! But this. This I could drink. Not pungent, no fruity sucker punches to the face, just white nectarine and grapefruit with a lengthy mineral swagger.

I am the same not a fan of sav but always willing to try a new wine Your Viognier Chardonnay blend was great for a non Chardonnay drinker so you never can tell what a new wine can bring to the palate 😊😊

Was a fun day... that’s going to be my retirement job!
Neville had been waiting two whole years for this moment! His lovely daughter, Melissa, signed him up for our Drinkers+Keepers wine club back in the early days, and he was 💯 the most disappointed D+Ker when Covid caused the Pick Party cancellation last year. Finally, a couple of weekends ago, Neville got to pick. And he says he’ll be back at it next year too.

And just like that, harvest 2021 is done. Finished today on the wonderful Tuki slopes that are home to the grapes for our Trademark Syrah.
Thank you to all those involved. And it’s not only the ones you immediately think of: Thank you to the pickers, the drivers, the crew meal makers, the labbies, the cellar hands, the cleaners, the photographers, the vineyard critters, those who picked up where we hastily left off and those at home holding fort.
You all have a hand in the making of our magical bottles of wine. It takes a village and we know it. ... See MoreSee Less

Look at these lovely peeps smiling in the noon-day sun after a few hours of hard yakka picking organic Syrah. They will forever and always be our inaugural Drinkers+Keepers Pick Party and for that we bless them!
