Welcome to Te Awanga - fly high 🥂
Art + Wine.
Ain't that pretty much the perfect combo? Actually, it's a lot like wine + cheese, but without the cheese!
We did a thing with Martin Poppelwell. Rod made some stellar 2019 Syrah, Martin painted a methuselah with his always glorious artwork, threw in some ceramic side kicks, and it'll all be going up for auction in a couple of week's time at A Night of Us fundraiser for the amazing non-profit Hawke's Bay Foundation. In fact what you don't see here is a second, un-painted methuselah, the one to drink. One to drink, and one to keep as an artwork. (or let's be honest, you can drink both if you want...cos they're yours!)
Ticket have sold out to the event, but if you know someone on the inside, you can bid by proxy. And low and behold you do...you know me...and Rod! So hit us up if you'd like a shot at this cool auction lot and we'll take your bid in with us.
We ❤️ Martin Poppelwell, and we ❤️ Syrah! 🧀

Pick Party Take II
Pick then lunch then walk away! Our lucky Drinkers+Keepers wine club crew are signing up to be part of our 2021 harvest picking team to have a hand in the process of making our wine! It’s just for a couple of hours on Saturday 13 March then we’ll feed and water (wine!) them in return. It’s the opportunity to get the real lay of our organic land.
Sounds like you? Check out our Drinkers+Keepers wine club by the link below or message for more info.

Extra Sunday Session!
Yep, the winemakers have spoken and we're taking a punt that March is going to turn it on ☀️, so we've booked the marvellous soothing sounds of The Tropical Downbeat Orchestra to take us out of the Sunday Session season in style.
Extra sun = extra sesh 🤞
Catch us on Sunday 21 March, for all things session-y! You know, like live music, cold wine, soothing beer, lasting sunshine, piping pizzas, gentle cruising, long looks, sloping lawn, short dogs, hot dancing...you...and The Tropics!

Josie Greaves might be good for those visiting x
New to us.
This is Hayden Penny. He’s our brand new winemaker. Brand new to us, for sure, but the boy’s defo been round the winemaking block! Starting out at Te Awa, then on to USA, Spain, Australia, Bulgaria and Marlborough before coming home to The Bay. A few years at Supernatural Wine Co before hitting the warm Te Awanga embrace!
He’s all about organics and that’s just fine with us. “Soil is key!! Happy soil=happy vines=happy grapes=happy ferments=happy winemaker!!” Which is a 💯 valid equation.
“I want to leave every piece of soil I farm in a better condition than when I started, and organics is a big part of this. We cant continue to take without putting back in. Organics is a way of ensuring the land we farm now can continue to be farmed successfully by our children, and for many generations to come.” HP
Bravo Mr Penny, bravo!
