Viognier hay day.
Now, while some may say that this is well and truly over, we say the best is yet to come!
After winning the trophy for our Viognier at the recent Hawke's Bay A&P Bayleys Wine Awards, here’s photographic proof that we’re legit members of the fan club...our very first bottling of Quarter Acre Viognier from 2010. Still love this label, (RM says I need to let it go..!) and you can for sure see the progression from then to what we have now.

Wild + woolly.
Sowing wildflowers between the odd row or two at Te Awanga today. Not only do they attract beneficial insects and are good for soil regeneration, but they look darn pretty too. As always, Head Supervisor, Cricket McDonald.
PS. Cricket isn’t actually woolly because somebody’s got her a haircut...guess who’s in the family dog box...?! ... See MoreSee Less

Earning his keep.
Rod was up early to fight the good fight this morning, sleeping bag and thermos in the Ute. All is safe and sound. Ahhhh spring ♥️. ... See MoreSee Less
Last night, Rod put on a suit, brushed his hair and went along to the Hawke's Bay A&P Bayleys Wine Awards to accept the trophy for the Champion Premium White Varietals for our Quarter Acre 2018 Viognier.
We’re chuffed. We’re card carrying fans of Viognier in this house, and our Quarter Acre is a small but delicious batch - think Turkish bazaar crossed with a long summer’s Hawke’s Bay day!
Often blended with other varietals, like in our One Off 2018 Double Happy, this Viognier is straight up...but we reckon you can handle it!
We’ll have a bottle open for tasting at the Cellar Door this weekend, so pop out ♥️.

Rod in a suit. Like to see that.
Missed catching the big guy last night but great to see the wine gain recognition for its awesomeness
CONGRATULATIONS Rod, well deserved.
Wahoo ... congratulations 😘
Love it, but no photo of Rod in a suit?
First try of this mysterious unlabelled wine I found on the top of my fridge...Oh and it’s a goodie! The Loom 2019 Syrah. Had to force myself to have a little taste test at 11am yesterday to figure out what was in the bottle as the mystery got the better of me. Earthy, cherry and dark plum with a hint of chocolate...Syrah for sure!
Mystery solved. And to be released soon... just as soon as we get the labels done, obvs! ... See MoreSee Less
So you waited until 11am. That takes restraint. Hehe
Jobs for the fam continued.
Here's our boy Bruno, the latest in a little bit of a line of fam+friends who have worked for us over the years. Not that anyone is counting (apart from Lola...) but Bruno has also had his name attached to two of our wines over the years:
First up was the original One Off ever to use the funky man label, a 2012 Martinborough Pinot Noir. The back label told a story about Rod and Bruno, who would have been 10, going to Martinborough for the night, eating pies, staying up late to watch rugby, getting up early to load the grapes and driving back home again in the truck. This label was the original man, designed by Zoe Chisholm, that spawned the series and then the Mister label.
The second was another One Off - the 2015 Syrah Hunter - with Hunter being Bruno's middle name, actually also my dad's and my great-grandfather's. So. A little fam + history lesson for you today! ❤️ ... See MoreSee Less
