Chardonnay with a capital ‘C’! Only the 3rd iteration of this flagship Chardonnay, James Suckling gave the 2018 vintage 95/100 points + Robert Parker 94/100.
Fruit was hand harvested from this 26 year old vineyard planted at the base of Te Mata peak in Havelock North. The grapes had a lovely balance of acidity and an average of 22.5 brix produced a seamless palate with citrus, peach and ginger flavours.
The nose is flinty with lemon, grapefruit, stone-fruit and a nougat layered lees influence. The palate is initially tight which some phenolic grip but unfolds with time in the glass and blends with the developing complex flavours. The finish is long and persistent. Just how we love our Chardonnay!
Enjoy now or cellar for another 6-8 years.
