The Word of Rod.

We interrupt normal communications to get a bit of a harvest update from Rod in the field: It’s been a pretty steady run into harvest with some beautiful fruit coming in from our home block at Te Awanga and around Hawke’s Bay. The flavour,  sweetness and balance we are tasting is as good as it gets. But this week is a monster week. It happens every year and you know it’s coming, but it still takes a massive effort from everyone to get through it.  We’re handpicking the last of our Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot and Syrah are looming large. The weather during harvest has been much better than we’ve had for the last couple of years, with the little rain that was forecast disappearing off in the horizon. 2019, a vintage of a lifetime? Possibly not, but a bloody good one for sure. RM.
