Following on from its world-beating older sibling from 2015 (won the trophy at London’s International Wine Competition for Best Red Wine of Show), we release the 2017 vintage of our Quarter Acre Syrah. What pedigree!
Handpicked fruit from our hillside vineyards, the 2016 season was set up with a calm, hot summer followed by a warm but changeable autumn. Destemmed into open top tanks and left to sit for up to ten days until natural fermentation began. Plunged gently at first and then with gusto, then held on skins for 24 days. Aged in French oak barriques.
Aromas of violets and cassis, the palate is complex and textural, with hints of thyme, the darkest of plum and earth. Underlying power and precision – it’s one smooth cat that will serve you well!
