Our Bridge Pā Vineyard – planted in the Bridge Pā Triangle – is consistently our warmest grape-growing site. It’s a combination of warm daytime temperatures, but also relatively warm nights, compared to our other sites.
Formed around 40,000 years ago as the Ngaruroro River flowed and flooded through this sub-region as it made its way to the sea.
We describe this vineyard as free draining sandy loam with layers of pumice – a reminder of the Taupō eruption thousands of years ago – over a solid gravel base.
